Reminder - Workshop at UN Commission on the Status of Women - March 4

Just a quick reminder that you are invited to join us at the United Nations next week.

Religion, Culture and Violence Against Women
Monday - March 4, 2013
4:30 PM
Guild Hall
Armenian Convention Center
630 2nd Avenue
New York

Religion, Culture and Violence Against Women will explore vital questions at the intersection of women's issues and religion, particularly as they relate to this year's UN-CSW focus on violence against women: What has been the use of religious doctrine to justify violence against women and does religion have the precepts, influence and power to change these age-old beliefs and practices? What are the current challenges and opportunities for women - of all faiths and in all countries? How do we create real change? And how can we support one another in making change? Presentations from diverse religious traditions will be followed by small group discussions.

Another Opportunity for your Voice to be Heard

The Women's Task Force hosted it's first monthly teleconference call yesterday on the topic of Religion, Culture and Violence Against Women. We had a rich discussion with more than 30 women on the call from across the U.S.

And the conversation continues.

Our sister organization Women of Spirit and Faith will explore this same topic on their collaborative blog, the Divine Feminine Blog, during February and March. The Divine Feminine is hosted on, a progressive inter-spiritual media platform which attracts more than 1 million unique visitors each month.
Women from many faiths and spiritual persuasions are invited to respond to the following prompt: "How do we create a world in which women and girls are safe from violence?"  If this question speaks to you, we encourage you to go deep within to explore this question for yourself. Find your own wisdom, then write what comes up and send it, with a photo of yourself and a one sentence bio. Please limit your post to 300-800 words and send to .
This is an excellent way to assure that your voice is hear at the vital nexus of women's issues, religion and spiritual leadership.
